The R1 Versus Evo Adaptive saddle from Fizik is a 3D printed road bike saddle with revolutionary padding with a carbon-reinforced nylon shell and a very stiff carbon rail (R1).

3D PRINTED PADDING: The evolution of digital 3D printing has made it possible to develop a new saddle without the constraints or limitations imposed by traditional production methods and materials. Adaptive saddle padding is manufactured by Carbon using its revolutionary Digital Light Synthesis technology. DLS is an additive manufacturing process that uses digital ultraviolet light projection, oxygen-permeable optics, and programmable liquid resins to produce parts with excellent mechanical properties, resolution, and surface finish.

CUSTOMIZED ZONAL CUSHIONING: Using Carbon technology, biomechanists and engineers have an unprecedented possibility: design and manufacture multiple functional zones in the saddle, adjusting each separately for specific mechanical properties. Each of these key functional areas is designed with distinct cushioning and mechanical response, joined together progressively and seamlessly within the same padding.

LABORATORY TESTED, ROAD PROVEN: Professional cyclists and amateur cyclists have been tested in fizik laboratories and on the road. During each phase of development, each iteration was carefully tested. The focus has been on understanding how pressure patterns change based on different bike geometries, riding positions and riding styles.

FROM IDEA DIRECTLY TO SCALABLE PRODUCTION: With this unique combination of processes and materials, we had the ability to develop a product five times faster, creating and field testing hundreds of iterations. Applicable to mass production, this technology completely reconfigures the traditional manufacturing process, speeding up and skipping all intermediate phases.

DURABLE PERFORMANCE: The saddle is very easy to clean. Even with the dirtiest road mud, all you have to do is simply hose it down with water. Everything that goes in, goes out. We subjected it to the most severe tests, simulating accelerated weathering, UV aging and wear resistance following strict protocols.
